Project: Making Worlds Collide

Deborah Eve Rea is a 27 year old actress/dancer/playwright/creative based in Wellington. She’s about to embark on her final year at Toi Whakaari, and has some pretty ambitious plans – she wants to become a New Zealand leader in Asian and Intercultural theatre.

    What is intercultural theatre?

“For me intercultural performance is working in an ensemble of people from different cultural backgrounds creating performance (through devised or collaborative theatre strategies) allowing each artists to have a voice and contribute language, values and cultural expressions from their unique cultural background.”
-Bert van Dijk, Actor, Director, Author of “Devised Theatre”.

And, how does she want to become a leader in intercultural theatre?

Well – Deb wants to learn from the best! She has plans to visit Australia (Jan 2012), Bali (Feb 2012), and India (March 2012) next year to train and learn from the very best on the world stage. She’s already raised most of the money by working and through grant writing – but she needs your help to raise that final $1,600.

    Rewards rewards rewards

Deb has some pretty awesome rewards. You can get everything from a thank you note and updates from around the globe ($10) to tickets to her show ($50) to your very own balloon twister at your next (kids) party ($250). Check out her PledgeMe project here:

Be  a doll and pledge on this, share this, and just generally love the awesome creativity in New Zealand. Thank you!
