Last week, we launched four campaigns for Pakihi Māori at an event in partnership with Whāriki, the Maori Business Network. They were:
- Nohi to the Nation
- Moka Fibre needs your help to patent their eyelash glue
- Te Whare Hangahanga Tapui Limited‘s investment round
- Cheekee Hero’s Monster Conversations
All of the campaigns had a core focus on people and the planet. We love this because “doing well and doing good” is a core value here in the PledgeMe tari (office). And the humans behind these organisations, are having such a positive impact in their hapori (communities), through their organisations and their day-to-day lives.
Let’s introduce you to the campaigners:
🌱 Sharee from Moka Fibre 🌱

Did you know that the eyelash industry is one of the largest contributors to single-use plastic waste – not to mention the glue is ranked in the top 10 most toxic beauty products in the WORLD?
Sharee from Moka Fibre launched her campaign to fund her patent for her natural eyelashes and glue. The strip eyelashes are made from moka fibre and brushtail fibre (aka “possum tails”) and her glue is made from harakeke and keratin sourced right here in Aotearoa.
Her background as a beautician means she knows the problem incredibly well, but also the solution. She won the title of Supreme Winner at “the Pick” business awards recently, and is the person you want to be on stage with – she helped our founder, Anna, get her makeup sorted after a long flight last week.

🌏 Moira and Anaru from Nohi to the Nation 🌏

Moira and Anaru from PurSuit NZ launched their campaign to take Nohi to the Nation. Nohi is a wellbeing tool that they’ve created based on Te Whare Tapa Wha, and uses a simple set of questionnaires to help people self-assess wellbeing, receive wellness scores, and set goals to achieve wellbeing in both personal and professional lives.
You can pledge to get access to an online Nohi workshop, to get beta access to their Pūnaha Reo app to learn Te Reo Māori, and even pledge to throw a water balloon the CEO, Moira.
You definitely want to include this crew in your businesses or day-to-day lives if you can, because they are the most supportive cheerleaders and gave the greatest feedback as our cohort prepared all of their campaigns. Check out their campaign here: https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/projects/7974

🤖 Jaz from Cheekee Hero 🤖

Jaz from Cheekee Hero launched her campaign to print their Monster Conversations cards, which empowers children to navigate their emotions and express themselves confidently.
Despite (or possibly because of) the content being super personal and close to home for Jaz, she pitched so well at the event last week. Talking to the background and need for Monster Conversations, and how they’d spend the money launching this tool in to the world at the minimum goal – but if they hit their stretch goal they’ll be able to make an accompanying book.
As rewards, you can get a deck of the Monster Conversations, an art print of their main character Tic, or even join an online session with Jaz to chat about her experiences. https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/projects/7978

🏘️ Amber from Te Whara Hangahanga Tapui Limited 🏘️

Amber Craig from Te Whare Hangahanga launched her investment round to create healthy and affordable homes for her whānau and community. She was “voluntold” by an auntie to use her skills in technology and getting stuff done to solve the problem of housing inequity in her region. She used her deep experience in the tech sector and deep passion for Mātauranga Māori to figure out how to create templates for housing that met the needs and wants of her whānau. In partnership with a Master’s student, they are almost ready to make their first Whare. The funds raised will help leverage off this foundation.
By pledging as little as $100, you can get shares in her social enterprise with a big mission. https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/investments/581
This isn’t our first time working with Amber, she’s successfully crowdfunded in the past and had a massive impact through her organising with our founder Anna around the Women Who Get Sh*t Done Unconference. We can’t wait to see what magic she creates with her crowd.
