Transference – keep on fundin’

Brandon, Ponyboy to his friends, wanted some help to publish his novel, Transference. And, he got it! He raised over $5,000 through 74 of his friends, family and fans, and now he’s going to get his novel out to the world (literally – a lot of his pledges came from the US). This is what he thought about the experience:

What did you like about pledgeme?
It pretty much gave me the chance to make something happen when I had exhausted all over avenues.  The great thing is really when you think about it, people are “buying” you… they believe in you and the project and they want to see it happen.

How did you find the experience?
I was more nervous than anything (of failure)… but other than that it was a breeze.

    Any tips for newbies?
I think the best thing you can do is not say “I have this idea” but to actually have progressed somewhere in the project.  For example, my novel is finished, and all I really needed to do what post one chapter.  I didn’t say “Hey I want to write a novel”… I had already done it.

    I say crowdfunding, you say…
See the attached pic!  Is the reference too obscure?  ha!  🙂

[Ed. note: it was a bit too obscure for me… But Brandon tells me that “It’s a song by Creedence Clearwater.   I think Tina Turner also did it… “Proud Mary”…. my brain works in a weird way and it was the only thing that popped into my head.” we like it!]
