PledgeMe welcome incoming chair of the board – Terry Shubkin

Terry Shubkin is joining the PledgeMe whānau as the new chair of the board. We asked her where she’s come from, why she chose PledgeMe and what she’s excited about within her new role.

After 18 years in the IT industry, which she absolutely loved, Terry has spent the last 11 years working as the Chief Excitement Officer for the charity Young Enterprise, which is all about developing an entrepreneurial mindset in young people.

“What’s really exciting is that if I do my “day job” well, that will mean more amazing people crowdfunding through PledgeMe to support their business, start-up or community project,” she says.

She first learned about PledgeMe just after it launched.

“Around the time that it launched, we were also launching a ‘YES’ alumni programme in my day job at Young Enterprise. Anna Guenther (PledgeMe founder) is a YES alum. Beyond the individual connection, I quickly became a huge raving fan as I love the kaupapa of what PledgeMe does.”

There are two things that Terry absolutely loves about PledgeMe – helping businesses to grow, and helping to connect individuals and businesses so they can do great things together.

She’s excited to be coming in as chair for an organisation that is 10 years old.

“There is such a base of amazing work and success in there, and my aspiration is to help the team take that strong base and see how we can grow PledgeMe to make an even bigger impact.”

To the PledgeMe crowd Terry says: “Thanks. PledgeMe only exists because of our crowd, so thank you for your contribution in the success to date. You are the ultimate definition of a raving fan as you don’t just talk about supporting PledgeMe (and the companies and projects that launch a campaign with us), you put your money where your mouth is and make a real difference.”
