One of our successes this year was Ink Big – who almost doubled the $900 target it set to get up and running. Gareth is the big ‘inker’ behind the Ink Big project, wanted to produce super size hand screen printed posters. To give you an idea of the size he was aiming for, he wrangled his office mate (Rachel, another PledgeMe alumni) into showing how big the posters would be:

Gareth’s latest large scale designs focus on snapshots of South Canterbury. We’re ‘inkling’ with nostalgia (and I’m not even from the South Island! Go figure). Getting ink done has never been so painless.

    Here’s Gareth’s two cents on PledgeMe…

What did you like about PledgeMe?
It allows people to engage without idea at an earlier stage than more traditional models of fund raising. This means that they’re perhaps more invested in you and the success of it once it happens.

How did you find the experience?
Good. It’s a natural focus point for talking about your project to other people, and inversely a good reason *to* talk to people about your project.

    Any tips for newbies?
As a good friend of mine told me – recognise that people pledge for different reasons, and provide information and rewards that meet different needs. Some just want rewards, so make them meaningful and worthwhile. Some want to see a good idea happen, so provide enough info for them to believe in it. Some want to see YOU do well, so put enough of yourself into it so they can engage with you.

    I say crowdfunding, you say:
    Rewarding (heheh 🙂 )
